born: 8/27/1999
AKA: Hollyberry, Bigfoot, Very Hairy Beary, BooBeary, BooBoo
This is Holly berry. She came to me because her owners needsed new homes for them, She brought with her Maizie and Shanjen. Holly was diagnosed shortly after we got her with thyroid problems. She also had in the past I was told by her XRays, surgery on her front leg because apparently it had been broken or injured. Poor little Holly has legs like a tree trunk. Such huge feet on such a dainty girl
After Holly arived we found out she had thyroid problems and AlopeciaX (loss of hair). Poor Holly was bald. We started her on thyroid meds, double doses of fish tabs and melatonin. She also had lost so much weight, she looked like a skeleton. I upped her food intake, and within three months her coat started to reappear. She also mellowed out considerably She once growled anytime any of the other dogs were near her, she know gets along very well with them. Holly is our little love bug.
In May 2010 Poor Holly went to have her teeth cleaned. Poor little girl apparently has some genetic teeth issues. I do brush their teeth, but unfortunately Holly had 8 teeth she needed pulled. Poor Holly beary was so drugged up, that she walked into the window at the vets office and slid down the window. I know not funny....but it really was :D Holly is doing great now...back to her old self.
Holly is doing very well. She has gained weight and her outer coat is in rather well. She may never have an undercoat, but she still looks good
In August 2011 I took Holly to the vets because she was limping and she seemed pretty uncomfortable. After taking her to see Marc I saw the arthritis was pretty bad, and she also had , in the past, surgery and a pin in her leg. This may explain what this dainty little girl has HUGE feet.
Holly was always such a special little girl. She was always there to make us smile. She was your typical snuggle butt. She loved attention. Holly has a huge dog house that we put in the den with a huge comfy overstuffed bed. She loved that place. I called it her sanctuary. When you came inside Holly would be in the house wagging her barely hairy tail that thwaped against the sides and it was hysterical. You had to go over to her house and pet her, where she would come out and wag that tail so hard she basically folded in half from the excitement. Kisses were her specialty. Coming home or going inside was a special treat because Holly was so excited to have someone to bark at , then love on.
Three days after Holly went to the vets we went to feed her and the normal barking like a maniac did not greet us. Holly lived to eat. After all the puppers had been fed my son was wondering where the chow hound was. so he went looking for her. When he went outside to look for her, he found Holly had fallen in the hot tub and lost her life. We have an in-ground pool and tub.. My sweet little angel had fallen in and it appeared she just succumbed, All the dogs have been trained on how to get out, and Holly had fallen in a few times before and had always gotten out.
An autopsy had been done and the vet who performed it found Holly was basically in good shape but had gotten ahold of a piece of sugarless chocolate that Yoda had hidden in the dog house, and had a bad reaction.
Holly my gentle loving little girl, your passing was the hardest for us. No warning and no one there to help or prevent this horrible tradgedy. I can still feel you here. Maizie mourned your death the hardest and is still howling and looking for you. You will also be very close to my heart and will live there forever. I planted some pure white roses for you in front between Marcus and Rachie's roses. I also planted 3 other white roses next to you, so that you, your sister Shanny and Maizie can all be together, I miss you my sweet gentle angel. You were and are a very special little angel.
